Christmas Date with the HB at Kapihan sa Datu
Joyride’s over. Time for some Kris Kringle at Kapihan sa Datu, Libertad, Butuan City. It is a spacious coffee shop with a park near Butuan’s Sports Complex.
Aside from being a coffee shop with a vast playground, they also had a souvenir shop that sold Butuan’s delicacies and other pasalubong (Tagalog word for keepsake or presents) items.
Kapihan sa Datu was a perfect choice for us because many were not able to prepare a gift. I was one of them. What a bummer! Hehehe! Gladly, we were able to buy gift items at the souvenir shop. Good thing the rest of the HB allowed us to do so. Thank God for understanding friends!
We may be young adults already but we still do get excited to participate in a Kris Kringle. We also didn’t pick the names of our manito/manita beforehand. The drawing of names was done on the spot. This element of surprise even brought more excitement to an already fun game. Who said only kids enjoy surprises? No one!
There are things commonly enjoyed in childhood that can still be fun & exciting when done in young adulthood. (tweetable)
What I like about Kapihan sa Datu
1. Playground
It’s family-friendly. Your kids can play at the park while you enjoy a cup of coffee. There are swings, seesaws and a slide to choose from. Your children will surely enjoy your bonding there.
2. Free Wifi and free charge of electronic device
It’s freelancer-friendly. This remarkable service is definitely a treat for those who make a living on the internet. It is especially helpful for freelancers residing in Butuan City wherein the summer season is also the brownout season. Why? Because we have daily rotation brownouts to compensate for the insufficient power supply in Mindanao.
3. Affordable food and drinks
It’s budget-friendly. Don’t worry about breaking your wallet. Food and drinks are reasonably priced. They serve freshly brewed coffee (Manobo blend), hot chocolate drink, hotdog, siomai, pastries and barbecue at night.
4. They sell Gummi Worms!
I am such a sucker for gummi candies. They are so delicious and addicting. They sell it at Php10.00/pack that has 10 pieces of gummi candies. Perfect to spoil your sweet tooth.
5. Hollywood inspired paparazzi wall that featured Mt. Mayapay
If you want to unwind, enjoy Manobo blends while your kids play at the park, Kapihan sa Datu is your place. It is open daily from 9am-11pm. You can also enjoy a view of Mt. Mayapay as you update your facebook status and check your email. How cool is that?
So what do you think about the place where Myka brought us? Yay or nay? If you’re wondering why I asked you that, check out my previous article: Christmas Date with the HB at Calda Pizza
